OMO Dance Company is a dynamic multicultural company that engages and excites its audiences through Artistic Director Debbie Wilson’s critically acclaimed choreography, and through collaborations with outstanding composers, artists and designers. OMO, founded in 1994, offers a unique face to dance with programs rooted in highly charged social issues such as alcoholism, mental health, spousal abuse, war and homelessness.

OMO’s wide appeal has garnered Wilson a 2002 Dora Mavor Moore Award nomination for “Outstanding New Choreography” and “Best Local Choreographer” awards in NOW Magazine’s “Best of Toronto” readers’ poll for 2000, 2001 and 2002.  In October 2005, Choreographer Debbie Wilson and the OMO Dance Company were honored to be invited to present Planetarium in Geneva, Switzerland at the United Nations' Assembly Hall for one of the events celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the United Nations.  In recognition of the company’s humanitarian policies, OMO has been invited by many organizations across the GTA to participate in charitable events that benefit both the local and international communities.

OMO’s program themes provide insights to the beauty and truth of the human condition that audiences have found moving, relevant, accessible and most of all, powerful.  The company's international collaborations have introduced outstanding foreign artists in dance, music and art to Toronto while representing Toronto and Canada on the world stage.  OMO’s student program works in conjunction with educators and provides subsidized access to live performances as well as participation in the creative process and the creation of a student forum.  OMO offers training to disadvantaged youth and artists with disabilities and has facilitated the organizational structure for Toronto artists from marginalized communities

Since 1997, OMO has expanded its community involvement through Opening Night Benefit performances; donating proceeds, promoting volunteerism and raising awareness for other worthy charities. Organizations that have been aided by OMO Dance Company are: Covenant House, The Hospital for Sick Children, The Toronto People With AIDS Foundation, The Winchester Street Theatre Renovation Fund, Canadian Abilities Foundation, Canadian Feed the Children, War Child Canada, True Davidson Meals on Wheels, Women for Women Afghanistan, United Mothers Opposing Violence Everywhere, The Lymphoma Foundation Canada, Turning Point Youth Services the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and the Masaryk-Cowan Community Centre.
